| Gerald "Gerry or Gerry T." Thomas Reid Jr. went home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the young age of 43 due to injuries from a traffic accident.
Gerry was born on September 24, 1966 in Medford, Massachusetts to his loving parents, Gerald Thomas Reid Sr. and Patricia Doane Reid, of Zebulon NC, formerly of Chester (Enon), VA. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989 and received a BS in Computer Science.
Gerry was a Senior Software Developer at Becton and Dickerson (BD). He was an active member in the community helping with the YMCA Indian Princesses and YMCA soccer for his children and an advocate for his residential neighborhood. He had also co-coached a young adolescent hockey team.
Gerry was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, numerous hockey teams and jujitsu gyms. Gerry loved music and a good cup of coffee with chocolate milk. He enjoyed the outdoors, staying active, playing and watching hockey, and being with friends. He was a long time supporter of the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey team.
Surviving, in-addition to his mother and father, are his wife, Mandy Chitsaz Reid; and his two children, Emma Grace Reid, age 7, and Caleb James Reid, age 5, whom all reside in Raleigh. He is also survived by his brothers, Matthew Doane Reid and his wife, Tiana, and their son in Zebulon, NC and David Jameson Reid and his wife, Rebecca and their two girls in Richmond, VA. Gerry is also survived by his brother-in-law and his wife, Jacob and Candace Chitsaz of Raleigh and their two girls as well as his father and mother-in-law, Sirus and Kaye Chitsaz of Raleigh. There are also a host of other loving relatives, including his grandmother "Nana" Doane in Hopewell, VA, and friends who will miss his laughter and outgoing personality.
Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Gerry's life from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, March13, 2010 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6612 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC 27613, (919) 846-4773.
