James Carl Hudson, 72, of Raleigh died Thursday at City of Oaks Nursing Center in Raleigh. He was born in Erwin, NC and is the son of the late Jaitor James and Daisy Pearce Hudson. He worked his entire career, 37 years with the U S Postal Service in Erwin and Raleigh retiring in October 1992. He taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and former chairman of the Pastor Search Committee in local area churches that included First Baptist in Erwin, Tabernacle, Calvary and Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh.
His devoted wife of 50 years, Gaynelle Brown Hudson, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
James is survived by his son, Douglas Hudson and wife Carol of Oreland, PA; daughter, Marcia Boseman and husband Perry of Raleigh; sister, Barbara McCoy of Raleigh; and grandson Alex Boseman of Raleigh.
Funeral services for James and his wife Gaynelle will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Temple Baptist Church, 1417 Clifton Street in Raleigh. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamers, NC.
The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12 Noon Saturday and have requested that memorial contributions be sent to Temple Baptist Church in memory of James and Gaynelle Hudson.
