Adrienne Margaret Green

November 19, 1966 — July 21, 2024

Adrienne Margaret Green. November 19, 1966 – July 21, 2024.

Adrienne closed her eyes after a battle with cancer lasting over two years and opened them in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Adrienne now knows what is written in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” During her illness, she would frequently say, “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.

Adrienne was born in Tehran, Iran when her father was stationed at the United States Embassy there with the Central Intelligence Agency. As a small child, she lived in Kinshasa, Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Coral Gables, Florida. She grew up in Warrenton, Virginia, graduating from Notre Dame Academy for girls in Middleburg, Virginia, and Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She worked as a Global Sales Manager for Weyerhaeuser, traveling all over the United States, Canada, and Europe, and as Director of Inside Sales for WestRock, working in both companies with a host of outstanding people who became friends.

The joys of her life were her twins, Ann and Daniel Green, and her husband John. Adrienne and John were married on February 26, 1994, and had recently celebrated their 30-year anniversary. Adrienne enjoyed running and walking, and she ran three miles almost every day for over 30 years. When she was quite ill with cancer, she could be seen walking the mile loop around her neighborhood three or four times daily. She frequently walked while sick from chemo and with her strength waning, and yet she persevered. Her determination marked her entire approach to life.

In addition to her twins and husband, left to cherish her sweet memory are her sisters Ellen Bosley (David) and Marla Barden, niece Monica West, great niece Taylor West, and a host of other relatives and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Annie Green.

Given the number of people who have done so much for Adrienne and the family since her illness began, the family cannot name them all without missing someone, but please know that every meal, every card, and every flower was understood by Adrienne and the family as a sweet “I love you,” and we are all grateful for them.

The funeral service is planned for Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Cary First Baptist Church, with visitation to follow. She will be interred at Wake Memorial Gardens on Green Hope School Road in Cary later in a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Adrienne's memory to The Gideons International, Post Office Box 1512, Cary, NC 27512, or a charity of your choice.
