Dennis K. Best

Dennis Keele Best, 80 died Tuesday at his home. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late Emmitt and Olie Jordan Best. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday at Holland United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judith Judy Best; daughters, Denise Best Hicks (Jerry) of Raleigh, Brenda Best Higgins (Steve) of Fuquay-Varina and Margaret Best Conyers (Doug) of Garner; sons, Raymond (Ray) Best of Raleigh and D. Clay Best of Clayton; sister, Debbie Faircloth (Willie) of Raleigh; brothers, Wayne Best (Jewel) of Wendell and Mickey Best (Sue) of Garner; grandchildren, Jennifer Higgins, Dr. Matt Higgins (Crystal), Chasity Cook, Kati Conyers, Thomas Conyers, Jordan Hicks, Ryan Best, Amber Hicks and Ryder Best;step-grandchildren Wayne Hicks (Marjorie) and Lisa Hefner (Sam); great-grandchildren, Jackson Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Mackenzie Cook and Lily Higgins; step-great-grandchildren, Andrew Hefner, Will Hicks and Maggie Hicks; sister-in-law, Ruth Best and brother-in-law, Charles Massey. In addition to his parents, Mr. Best was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley B. Massey and brother, Jerry Best, as well as his beloved dog, Sonny who died Feb. 7, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner.
