Dorothy Parrish Lambert, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be reunited with the love of her life, her husband and her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2014. She was born August 17, 1928, in Benson, North Carolina but grew up in Smithfield, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Genevieve Baucom Parrish and the late John Robert Parrish of Smithfield. Mrs. Lambert attended and graduated from Women’s College (now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) in 1951 with a degree in Home Economics. She married the love of her life, Edgar E. Lambert in 1953. Teaching was Mom’s true passion…whether it was fifth grade, her Sunday School class or the nursing home. She taught at Vandora Springs Elementary from 1973 until 1993. She was a charter member of Aversboro Road Baptist Church where she served as one of the first female deacons and taught the Dot Lambert Sunday School class for fifty-three years. A private Burial will be held prior to the Memorial Service. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am at Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner on Thursday, November 6, 2014. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Lambert is survived by her adoring children, sons, Edgar Ellsworth (Buddy) Lambert, Jr. and wife Beverly; Robert Brent Lambert and wife Kim; and daughter Sarah Lambert Barham and husband Mike. Her grandchildren: Jeremy Lambert (Crystal) and great granddaughters Charlotte and Annabelle; Jacob Lambert, Ashley Barham Byars (Justin), Todd Barham, Tyler Lambert and Victoria Lambert. She is also survived by a sister, Lillian P. Maquire (John) of California. She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Edgar Ellsworth Lambert, on December 23, 2010, whom she shared 57 wonderful years, and an infant daughter, Sandra Baucom Lambert. She will forever be remembered for her love for the Lord, as a loving and adoring wife, and as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family request, in lieu of flowers, for donations to be made to Transitions Lifecare, Aversboro Road Baptist Church, or Jim “CatFish” Hunter Chapter of ALS at www.CatfishChapter.org. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
