August 27, 1971 — February 18, 2025

Morrisville, NC - Aaron "Shawn" Davis, 53, passed away at his residence on February 18, 2025. A native of Buncombe County, Shawn was born on August 27, 1971, to Dennis Royce Davis and Linda Marie Byrd-Bivins at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Shawn is survived by his grandmother, Linda Blake Bivins of Hillsborough, NC. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles B. Byrd, Roland Davis of Marion, NC, and W.D. Bivins Jr. of Hillsborough, NC; and his grandmothers, Lucille Byrd and Grace Davis of Marion, NC.

Shawn graduated from Athens High School in Raleigh, NC and had a deep passion for his work. He was a Senior PV Coordinator at PPD, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific (RTP), in Clinical Research for nearly 10 years, where he developed close friendships with his colleagues. He also served as an EMT-1 for WakeMed Health and Hospitals in Raleigh, NC, for four years and for Garner EMS and Rescue in Garner, NC, for 13 years, where his co-workers became lifelong friends. Additionally, he served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy in Havelock, NC.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Linda Byrd-Bivins (Rick) of Hillsborough, NC and Dennis Davis (Sandy) of Raleigh, NC; his brother, Chad Davis (Amber), and his niece and nephew, Abby Davis and Zeke Davis, all of Tennessee; his sister, Casey Fowler (Jonathan) of Georgia, and their children, Rylan Fowler and Tate Fowler; his close cousins, Kari Byrd Wilkerson (Tim) and Eddie Byrd, along with their mother, Bonnie Byrd, all of Marion, NC; and Avery Wilkerson of Colorado. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his uncle's wife, Annette Byrd of Marion,NC. Shawn shared a deep and enduring bond with his forever soulmate, Laura Darby of Melbourne, Cambridgeshire.

A special thank you to Misti Britt of Hampstead, NC, a dear co-worker of Shawn's, who reached out to his mother after noticing his absence from work. Misti remained on the phone with Shawn's mother until she arrived at Shawn's residence and continued to provide support. Gratitude is also extended to police officer Orr, the other responding police officers, the EMS personnel Marion (Marion worked with Shawn many years ago with EMS), and all those who assisted during that time.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, at 11:00 A.M. (casual dress as Shawn would want it that way):

Renewal GAC Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Rd, Garner, NC 27529

A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.

The Reverend Joe Pritchett, a close friend of Shawn's for many years, will officiate. Shawn often discussed passages from the Bible with him, particularly 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NIV), which was from the version Shawn carried. He deeply loved Garner Advent Christian Church, where he spoke on multiple occasions.

Shawn was also very active with the students at the church and enjoyed attending Camp Dixie in Fayetteville, NC, many times. His passion for the camp continued beyond his youth, as he found great joy in helping there.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp Dixie, 373 Bladen Union Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306, or Renewal GAC Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Rd, Garner, NC 27529.
