Raleigh - This world lost a loving, gracious, gentle lady, and heaven gained an angel. Aiko Matsuura Jordan, 84, died May 22, 16. After having a stroke in 2005, she has been at Sunnybrook Nursing Home for 11 years where she received loving care. She died of respiratory failure. Aiko began her career as a clerk working for the US Army base in Yokohama, Japan, where she met and eventually married Johnnie Jordan in May 1958. Aiko and Johnnie moved to Los Angeles where Aiko worked for the Bank of America. After a long and successful career at the bank, she retired before moving to Raleigh, NC in 1984. Aiko is survived by family in Japan: sister, Toki Seino, a niece and 2 nephews; in the US: 2 step daughters, Jonalene and Gwen; a step son, Johnnie Jr.; 3 brother- and sisters-in-law; her guardian, Frances; and 22 living nieces and nephews throughout the US. Visitation will be Thursday, May 26, 1-2PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM. Flowers are appreciated or donations may be sent to the SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh 27603. After cremation, Aiko will be interred with Johnnie in Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
