Akemi Zahourek

Akemi Zahourek, 85 born Sept. 14, 1932 in Japan. Akemi was a compassionate, fun-loving, tough, funny, spunky, and loving person who lived her life to the fullest. She worked very hard throughout most of her life until she finally retired near 70. She lived with her son and daughter-in-law since 2006. She had many hobbies and interests but loved animals, travel, and bingo the most. She was a current resident of Garner and prior to that she lived in many places including Raleigh, Havelock, California and Japan. This sweet mother and future grandmother passed away at Transitions Hospice with her loving son and daughter-in-law at her side. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday July 25, 2018 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Akemi is survived by her son; Douglas Zahourek and wife Aurora; future granddaughter Mia Akemi Zahourek; cat Punkie; dog, Jackie along with other extended family. Also survived by the father of her son Charles Zahourek.
