GARNER- Johnny “Al” Bynum, Sr., 72, died Wednesday at Wake Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Wake County, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Stella Murray Bynum. He retired from Jesse Jones (Con-Agra Foods) with 44 years of loyal service as a maintenance supervisor. After he retired, he was actively involved with Bynum’s Greenhouses, Inc. He was a loving husband, daddy, papa and friend who touched the lives of so many. He enjoyed family gatherings, grandchildren’s sporting events and making sausage, pork BBQ and BBQ sauces for his family and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home and all other times at his home. . Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elsie Walker Bynum; daughters, Teresa Sullivan (Terry), Tina Parsons (Derek) and Tara Germonto; son, John Bynum, Jr. (Amy); grandchildren, Skyler and Taylor Strickland, Libby Bynum, Ryder Parsons and Britany Curry (Darrell); 3 step-grandchildren, Jennifer Lovelace (Randy), Holly and Josh Sullivan; 1 great-grandchild, Annibelle Lovelace and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Bynum Edwards and brother, James Hilliard Bynum.
