Owner of Professional Barbershop of Cameron Village and Real Estate Broker Knightdale - Albert Pilkington, Jr. was born July 25, 1928 in Johnson County and passed away on August 29, at his home in Knightdale with his loving family by his side. Pre-deceased are his parents Albert Pilkington and Ila May Strickland Pilkington and sister Faye Barber Robinson. Surviving is the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Carline Philyaw Pilkington. He also leaves behind his special family Carl Jason Philyaw (Heather), Brandon, Brady, Emily and Cara. Albert loved his and Carline’s families and leaves behind his sister, Josephine Capps; sisters-in-law Maxine Hales, Franky Waters, Healon Snead; and brother-in-law Anthony Philyaw. He enjoyed many hours of fun at Carolina Beach fishing, riding his dune buggy, and walking along the beach that he loved so much with his many nieces and nephews: Don, Larry, Sandy, Donnie, Ronnie, Theresa, Johnny, Roger, Ronnie, Lisa Gail, Chuck, Brian, Garren, Stephanie, Kim, Joey, Jody, Chris, Jason, Dylan, and Tyler. He also leaves many great- and great-great nieces and nephews that he loved deeply. Albert and Carline enjoyed years of traveling in their RV to over half of the US States. He also enjoyed their beach house which they generously shared with family. Albert proudly served in the US Marines during WWII. After his tour of duty, he attended barber college in Durham, NC. He worked as a barber for over 40 years and was the owner of the Professional Barbershop in Cameron Village for many years. While working as a barber, Albert also obtained his Real Estate Broker license and brokered many properties for himself and friends. Later in life, Albert became an avid golfer and the highlight of his golfing was his ‘hole in one’ on August 2, 1999 Hole #2 at 190 yards at Brevofield Golf Links in Wake Forest. Visitation will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC from 4:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, Sept.1, 2018. A graveside service will be Sunday, Sept. 2, 3:00 PM at Selma Memorial Gardens, Selma, NC. Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
