Alfio Dr. Romano

Dr. Alfio J. Romano, 87, passed away Thursday. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18, in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. Dr. Romano was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Giuseppe and Adelina Romano. He was a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown Medical School. He was in private practice as a doctor of Internal Medicine in Poughkeepsie, NY for many years. In 1995, Dr. Romano retired and together with his wife Marilyn, they built their dream home on Oseetah Lake in Saranac Lake, NY where they enjoyed many happy years together. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoyed cross country skiing, canoeing, fishing, and hunting and was a devoted companion to all his dogs through the years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Romano. Dr. Romano is survived by his loving family which includes his daughters, Addie Cavanagh of Rock Hill, NY/Jupiter, FL, Angela Byrum and husband, Scott of Willow Spring, Annemarie Romano of Stanfordville, NY; sons, Joseph Romano of Cicero, NY, Alfio John Romano and wife, Deborahann of Angier; sister, Lucy Cacciatore and husband, Frank of Helen, GA; grandchildren, Kieran Cavanagh, Emily Byrum, Jack Francis Romano, Cassandra Juliano, Lucy Byrum; and his canine companion, Eddie Romano. He touched many hearts and lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew him in the days to come.
