Alfred L. Elmore

GARNER – Alfred L. Elmore, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022. He was born in Harnett County on August 28, 1936, to the late John Henry and Fannie Elmore. Alfred graduated from Campbell University in 1957 and NC State University in 1962 with a BS in Agricultural Education. Alfred retired honorably from the US Army National Guard after 14 years with the rank of Captain. Alfred ran Custom Bronzing Company for 26 years along with his wife, Trudy. Their bronzing booth at the NC State Fair each year was a favorite annual tradition. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Elmore; sister, Esteline Tart; and brothers, Felton Elmore, Jim Elmore, Corbett Elmore. Alfred is survived by his wife of 42 years, Trudy Elmore; sons, Landon Elmore and wife, Kirsten E. Miller, Jonathan Elmore; step-sons, Jason Godwin and wife, Katie Godwin, Michael Godwin; grandchildren, Leila J. Elmore, Harry Godwin, Samantha Godwin; and his sister, Iris Sills. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon at First Baptist Church in Garner on Friday, April 29, 2022. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church prior to the service, from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM. Graveside service will be held at approximately 3:00 PM in the Lee’s Chapel-Williford Cemetery in Dunn. Flowers are welcome, or in lieu, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church: 601 St. Mary’s Street, Garner, NC 27529; or to Lee’s Chapel Church: 4948 Plain View Hwy, Dunn, NC 28334.
