Algie Innman Stephens

Garner - Algie Innman Stephens, 86, passed away Thursday. Born in Alamance County, he was the son of the late Passmore and Manie Culbertson Stephens. Mr. Stephens came to Raleigh in 1956 and opened Stephens Appliance Store on South Saunders Street. In 1967, he began developing real estate. Mr. Stephens, along with fellow developers, initiated construction of North Hills Office Center, the first office subdivision in the state of North Carolina. He was a member of the Garner Lions Club and Aversboro Road Baptist Church in Garner. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Clara Griffin Stephens; sons, Douglas Innman Stephens of Morrisville and Edward Harrison Stephens and wife, Dee of Charlotte; grandchildren, Justin Matthew Stephens, Laura Alison Williams and husband, Derek, Joshua Aaron Stephens, all of Raleigh and Leslie Carole Stephens of London, England. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Memorial contributions may be made to Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC 27529.
