Alice C. Mangum

RALEIGH – Alice C. Mangum died April 23, 2015. She was born September 24, 1929 in Harnett County to the late Simon and Myrtle (Tudor) Campbell. She was married 61 years to H. Lester Mangum. He died in 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Linda (Bill) Wood of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Barbara Mangum-Watkins of Raleigh. She is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Yarborough of Carthage, TN., Jean Stocks of Fredericks, VA., Ann (Ben) Dorn of Appling, GA., and Ellen (Larry) Nordan of Lillington, NC., and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Campbell of Wendell, NC. She is survived by her husband’s brother, Douglas (Rose) Mangum of Goldsboro, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Billy Campbell; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Stocks and Malcolm Yarborough. She had five grandchildren: Laura (Doug) Baker of Hamilton, MI., Pati (James) McConeghey of Minneapolis,  MN., Robynn Watkins of Raleigh, Jonathan (Christianne)Wood of Broomfield, CO., and Ashley (Scott) Rietvelt of Raleigh.  She is survived by great-grandchildren: Will, Matt, Kaleb, Savanna, Sean, Jackson and a great-granddaughter expected in August. Funeral services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5029 Old Stage Rd. Raleigh at 2:00 PM on Thursday April 30, 2015, with family visitation one hour prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, Alice’s daughters respectfully request you may donate to the charity of your choice or to the library fund at A. B. Combs Elementary School in Raleigh, NC.
