ANGIER - Alice C. Stephenson, 100, died Saturday at Oak Hill Assisted Living Center. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late David Edgar Coats and Fannie Elizabeth Kelly.Mrs. Stephenson was a charter member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Willow Springs.She was also the longest living member of Providence Presbyterian Church as well as receiving the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership.Mrs. Stephenson was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Providence Presbyterian Church, 14664 NC Hwy 210, Angier, 27501. Burial will follow in the church cemeterySurviving are daughter, Barbara S. Walton and husband, Rosyval of Willow Spring; sisters, Zula C. Ennis, Georgia C. Williams, and Shirley C. Grissom, and special brother-in-law Marshall Grissom all of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kent Walton and wife, Gwen, Kevin Walton and wife, Angie, Pam Wickham and husband, Mike, John Stephenson, Jr. and wife, Phoebe; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Abbey, Brady, Lily, and Nina Walton, and Ansley and Brooke Stephenson; special cousin & roommate Dorothy West Hamilton, and special friend Kathy Ryals.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Palmon Stephenson; son J.E. Gene Stephenson and his wife, Vera; brother, David Edgar Coats Jr.; sisters, Maxine Stephenson, Flossie C. Stephenson, Allene C. Stephenson and Eloise C. McAllister.The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 PM Tuesday prior to the service.Flowers are appreciated; contributions may also be made to the Providence Presbyterian Church building fund.
