Alicia Carol Porter

Alicia Carol Porter, age 52 of Garner, NC went home to be with The Lord on Monday, December 9th, 2024. She was born February 9th, 1972 in Nash County, NC to the late Joseph Evrid Porter and Gwendolyn Carol Porter.

She is survived by her sister, Lorrin Elizabeth Porter of Clayton, NC, brother, Eugene Porter and nephew, Jordan Porter of Rocky Mount, NC.

Alicia was loved by everyone who met her and will be remembered by her big heart and personality. She was a giving, thoughtful, and kind person who enjoyed making people laugh. She loved Jesus and would often accompany her advice to others with a Bible verse. Alicia played sports in school and enjoyed watching them on TV. When asked what was her favorite sport, she would reply “anything to do with a ball”. Going to baseball games with friends was a highlight for her, and especially cherished attending Carolina Hurricane games with her nephew, Jordan. Thursday nights were specially reserved for an evening of good food at Fiesta Mexicana with her sister, Liz, and friend Johanna. Alicia and Liz were not only sisters, but close friends and were very supportive of one another. She and her childhood friend, Betty Jo, created beautiful memories together, and the distance did not affect their bond. Alicia’s friend Stephanie and goddaughter Emily were also an integral part of Alicia’s life before and after her illness. Even after her diagnosis, Alicia’s personality was always shining and was an inspiration to us all. For years, she found comfort in listening to contemporary Christian music daily and staying true to her faith. During phone conversations, it was not uncommon to hear Alicia say “Oh my heavens!” She enjoyed trips visiting friends and being the life of the party.

Alicia was a Senior Customer Solutions Agent with Merz in Raleigh, NC and enjoyed her co-workers and talking with sales representatives. Although Alicia came to Merz with existing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she enjoyed a diverse array of occupations including an activities director at an assisted living facility, prison guard, florist, and security guard for WRAL in Raleigh, NC.

The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024 in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. The funeral will start at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow at Bryan-Lee.
