Clayton – Allan Lyle Brock, Jr., 79, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of Mr. Allan Brock, Sr., and Mrs. Anne B. Brock.
Allan followed previous generations of family and moved to Raleigh in 1968 after serving three years in the United States Army as a surgical technician. He became an avid NC State fan, relishing in their 1974 and 1983 national championship seasons, and believing each new year would bring another national championship. He spent the majority of his career in the food brokerage business, servicing military commissaries in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. In retirement, he took great joy in reading, family, espousing the virtues of Memphis barbeque, and participating in church and Bible studies. Most importantly, he was prepared and ready when called home unexpectedly to be with his Heavenly Father.
In addition to his loving wife of 25 years, Kathleen “Kate” Brock, Allan is survived by his son, Colonel Allan S. Brock, his wife Jennifer, and their children Andrew, Anna, and Ava; daughter, Amy B. Lange, and her husband Bryan, and their children Bryson and Brock; and brother, Thomas B. Brock.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27601.
