ANGIER - Allie Merchison Collier, Sr., 84, a retired farmer, passed away Sunday. A life long resident of Harnett County he was the son of the late Lester Collier and Mary Emma Wood Collier. A pillar in his community, he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years at his beloved Kennebec Baptist Church. He held the state record for many years for growing giant watermelons. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Kennebec Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Surviving are his wife Rilda Hamilton Collier, daughters, Lori Eason and husband, Richard of Buies Creek, Paula Stickovitch and husband, Joseph of Mesa, AZ.; son, Allie M. Collier, Jr. of Angier; grandchildren, Blake Eason and wife, Katie of Greenville and Mark Eason of Buies Creek. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his son, Kelly Collier. The family will receive friends Tuesday night 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
