Alyce Johnson Poole

Alyce Neal Johnson Poole, 87, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023. A native of Wake County, Alyce was born June 7, 1934 to the late J. Bunyan and Ada Prevatte Johnson. Alyce loved playing bridge with her circle of friends, singing in the Garner UMC Church Choir, and most importantly, time with her family. She was also a longtime member of Garner United Methodist Church.

Alyce is survived by her daughters, Nancy Poole Grogan and husband, Dan, Lou Ann Upchurch and husband, Tim, and Marie Crowder; grandchildren, Christen Clark and husband, Richard, Taylor Upchurch and wife, Jamilyn, Lauren Acres and husband, Jake, Marty Garris, Jr. and wife, Jill, Austin Crowder, Allison Brookie and husband, Eli, Ashley Godwin, and April Godwin; and great grandchildren, Charis, Ethan, Camden, Logan, Colter, and Saylor.

In addition to her parents, Alyce was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles “Charlie” Rand Poole; and her brothers, William “Bill” Johnson, Dr. James Johnson, and Johnnie Holmes Johnson.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 1PM, at Mid-Way Baptist Church 6910 Fayetteville Road Raleigh, NC 27603. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Monday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home 1200 Benson Road Garner, NC 27529
