Andrew Louis Romanet, Jr.

GARNER - Andrew “Andy” L. Romanet, Jr. went to be with the Lord with his family surrounding him at home on Wednesday, August 3rd. Andy was born on April 23, 1940 in Westchester, Pennsylvania. Andy died after a very long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He is now at peace, “God bless him”. Andy is survived by his loving wife, Donna F. Romanet, married 38 years; his daughters, Amy B. Romanet of Greensboro, Katherine R. Davis (Craig) of Greensboro, Molly R. Sakers (Matt) of High Point; and grandchildren, Emilie Sakers, Alek Sakers, Drew Sakers; and step-grandchildren, Chelsea Davis (Hannah Wolfe), Rachel Davis, and Matthew Davis. He is also survived by our beloved dog, Abbie. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew L. Romanet, Sr. and Alma S. Romanet. He is also preceded in death by beloved dogs, Bonnie Belle and Lucy. Andy received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Planning and Administration from UNC Chapel Hill in 1963 and his Law Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 1967. From 1967-1988 he was with a private law firm in Plymouth, NC. He also was the town attorney for Plymouth and Roper, NC. In 1988 Andy went with the North Carolina League of Municipalities. He retired as their General Council at the end of 2009. He also lobbied for the same organization at the North Carolina General Assembly. Andy and Donna loved going to Beaufort, NC and Blowing Rock, NC every year. Andy and Donna were members of the Rams Club and loved going to the home UNC Chapel Hill football games as long as Andy was able. Andy was a member of Garner United Methodist Church. A special thank you to “HomeChoice HomeCare Solutions” for all their love and care during Andy’s time and need. Also, a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for all their love and care during Andy’s time and need. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road in Garner, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A private inurnment service for the family will take place at Historic Oakwood Cemetery and Mausoleum in Raleigh. Condolences may be made at bryan-leefuneralhome.com. Flowers are always welcome or a donation can be made in Andy’s memory to the Wake County SPCA, Garner United Methodist Church, or Heartland Hospice of Wake County.
