Ann Rowe Baucom

June 18, 1939 — June 8, 2012

Ann Rowe Baucom died at her home in Wake County, N.C. on June 8, 2012. She was born June 18, 1939 to Leoria Cook Rowe and Robert Alvin Rowe. She was a graduate of Garner High School and Meredith College and held post graduate degrees from Southeastern Baptist Seminary and from Michigan State University. She married William Byrd Baucom on August 24, 1968 and during 44 years of marriage lived in North Carolina, Michigan, Washington, DC, Barbados, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and Italy. Her professional career centered on student affairs with several institutions of higher education, including Duke University, World University Service, Michigan State University and the U.S. Department of Education. Ann was also valued by many as a personal counselor and spiritual guide. Ann is survived by her husband, William and by her sister Betty Lou Penny. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. No one demonstrated unconditional love more than our Annie. We will always remember her amazing generosity; graciousness in all things; abiding faith; deep spirituality; wise counsel; commitment to family; devotion to friendships and appreciation of fine books and music; of travel; of wild flowers and the natural world. Those of us who were blessed to have her as daughter, wife, sister, aunt or friend will forever be grateful for Gods gift of her in our lives. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10 from 4:00-6:00PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.
