Ann Skiles Lore (December 3, 1933 - December 2, 2024 ) lived a beautiful life.
Ann was born in Plymouth, NC, and spent most of her life in Raleigh, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. Born on December 3, 1933, to WJ Skiles and Johnnie Skiles, Ann attended nursing school in Rocky Mount. In Smithfield, she met the love of her life, George G. Lore, whom she married in 1955.
Ann's love for her children and grandchildren was boundless—they were the greatest joy of her life. She dedicated much of her career to helping others, working as a staff nurse, ER nurse, and later as an orthopedic nurse at Raleigh Orthopaedic for over thirteen years. After retiring, she continued to care for her friends, family, and church community with the same compassion she had shown in her nursing career.
A devoted member of the Garner Church of Christ, Ann was a regular at Sunday School, Wednesday services, and her beloved OWLs group, where she shared her faith and formed lasting friendships.
In her spare time, Ann loved to serve others, whether by sharing her homemade pimento cheese or her famous chocolate layer cake. She cherished spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren—Brittany, Courtney, McKenna, and Ryley—whom she spoiled and adored. They fondly remember her sense of humor, the laughter they shared, and the valuable lessons she taught them.
Ann’s family and friends will miss her deeply. She was unyieldingly kind and caring, providing a constant source of comfort as she always put the needs of others before her own. She had a unique way of making everyone feel loved and cherished. She was funny, but kind of unintentionally, which was charming in a purely unique Grammy sort of way. She will be remembered as a hard-working, loving inspiration and a loyal, unselfish friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Franks and Camille Miller, son-in-law Michael Miller, and grandchildren Brittany and Courtney Franks, McKenna and Ryley Miller, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her sister, Jackie Harrison.
At her request, a visitation will be held at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner at 10 am on Saturday, Dec. 7, followed by a funeral service. The burial will be immediately afterwards at Montlawn Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations be made to Garner Church of Christ at P.O. Box 1083, Garner NC, 27529.
