Anna Belle Skeeter Farinholt

Anna Belle Skeeter Farinholt passed away peacefully on July 1, 2014 . She was born July 15, 1926 in Rescue, Virginia to Annie Ross Carter King and Casper Clarence Skeeter and was raised by a loving stepfather Marvin Oscar King in Newport News, VA. Charles R. Monk Farinholt survives her and was her loving, caring husband for 66 years . Sister -in-law Mildred F. Dixon of Chesapeake, VA introduced the couple and always remained a loving friend and caregiver. Anna is also survived by Joan F. Thompson, daughter, of Raleigh and Philip R. Farinholt, son, and his wife Cheryl H. Farinholt of Wilmington. Grandchildren include Jacob A. Thompson and wife Amanda, Joseph L. Thompson and wife Sarah of Raleigh, and Natalie A. Farinholt and husband Yuri Kalesnikov of Fuquay. A very special part of her life in later years were her great-grandchildren Rebecca, Jewitt, Edward and John Thompson. One sister, Betty Stierhoff and her husband Harold of Cary shared family times with Anna and Monk through the years and often included nephew Michael and wife Denise Stierhoff of Raleigh and, grand niece, Christie of Virginia and niece, Vickie and husband John Jones and grand niece Taylor and grand nephew Ryan of Cary. Anna always loved Wolfpack sports whether attending or watching on TV. She enjoyed her neighbors, cooking, birds, and her flowers, and especially the couples place at Indian Beach. Earlier she was active in the Womans Club of Raleigh and The Petal Pushers Garden Club. Edenton Street United Methodist Church had a special place in her heart especially while Dr. Howard Powell and his wife Eunice were there and she actively participated with the Womens Circles, visited the Methodist Home for Children, and carried Meals on Wheels. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11 AM in the sanctuary at Edenton Street United Methodist Church, 228 Edenton Street, and the family will greet guests in Kerr Hall immediately following the service. A service of celebration of her life will be performed by the Reverend Will Hasley and Dr. Roger Elliott. A special thanks to Rex Rehab and Nursing staff, especially Veronica and Candy, who graciously helped through many years with the advancing stages of Parkinsons Disease and dementia. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Edenton Street United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 228 W. Edenton Street, Raleigh, NC 27603, or to a charity of ones choice.
