On July 28, 2024, Annaionette Bobbitt Lilly of Garner, N.C., passed away peacefully at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Maurice Lilly Sr., her son, Robert Johnson Lilly; her parents, Louis Walton Bobbitt Sr. and Ella Johnson Bobbitt; her sisters, Dorothy Bobbitt, Lurlene Bobbitt, and Juanita Bobbitt-Smith; her brother, Louis Walton Bobbitt Jr.; and her niece, Ella Yvonne Bobbitt-Cornwell.
Annaionette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold M. Jr. and Sharon Lilly; her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Ann and Michael Williams; and her son, Kenneth Louis Lilly. She was a beloved grandmother to Justin Lilly, Kierstin Roberts, Morgan Moresco, Micaela Newton, Sam Lilly, and Brock Lilly, and a cherished great-grandmother to Maverick Lilly, Caroline Lilly, Hudson Lilly, Hadley Lilly, Malachi Moresco, and Audrey Newton.
Born in Castalia, N.C., on September 7, 1928, Annaionette attended Peace College for high school and earned her teaching degree from UNC Greensboro. It was there she met her husband, Harold M. Lilly, and they married in 1952, enjoying 49 beautiful years together.
Annaionette had a long and fulfilling career teaching elementary students at Aversboro Elementary, where she was loved and adored by all. In her retirement, she delighted in traveling, family gatherings, UNC Tar Heel basketball, and indulging in her love for chocolate.
Annaionette was an exceptional woman, known for her loving nature, positive attitude, readiness to help, and unwavering dedication to those she cared for. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the beauty and love she brought into the world.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 9:00 AM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.
