Annie Wayland Poe

December 12, 1928 — January 27, 2023

Annie Wayland Poe of Cary, NC peacefully left this Earth to be with our Lord on January 27, 2023. She was born on December 12, 1928 in Woodville, VA to the late Luther Ashley Wayland and Dollie Russell Carder. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Elsie Eaheart, Chester Wayland, Lester Wayland, and Dorothy Williams. Annie was a strong, loving mother of three sons. While raising her boys, she also worked in manufacturing at IBM in Manassas, VA for many years and transferred to Cary, North Carolina in 1978. She was a devoted member of Greenwood Forest Baptist Church and a dedicated volunteer at the Dorcus Thrift Shop. She is survived by her sons, Jerry Lee Poe (Cary, NC), Thomas Ashby Poe (Holly Springs, NC), Steven Leon Poe (North Myrtle Beach, SC), Daughter-in-law, Toni Poe (North Myrtle Beach, SC), Granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Poe (Dallas, TX), and long-time, cherished friend, Diana Morde (Cary, NC). She touched the lives of so many people, and her vivacious and giving spirit will be missed by many.


A Celebration of Life will be held at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 3:30 pm with refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Greenwood Forest Baptist Church Organ Fund or another fitting charity in Annie’s name.
