Graveside services for Anthony B. Cistola of 1412 Falls Church Road, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27609, were conducted at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens on March 28, 2018. The services were led by Dr. Michael Parnell, Pastor of the Temple Baptist Church in Raleigh. Anthony was one month shy of his 89th birthday. He was born in Taylor, PA on 04/28/1929 to Antonio Cistola and Mary Snyder Cistola. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diane Cistola Dennis, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene Benner Cistola, and his son, Dr. David P. Cistola and wife Julie A. Cistola of El Paso, Texas. He is survived by two grandsons, Andrew S. Cistola (Hannah) of Gainesville, Florida, and Nicholas S. Cistola (Amanda) of Denver, Colorado and a great grandchild on the way. Also, he is survived by two step grandsons, Mark M. Pavely III (US Navy) and J. Alexander Pavely of Missouri and his grandchildren Evan and Audrey, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Anthony served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he had a successful 35-year career as an engineer with IBM, receiving an Outstanding Invention Award, and Outstanding Contribution Award and 14 patents. In retirement, he owned and operated Anthonys Clocks, Inc. of Durham together with his daughter Diane. He was an affable, hard working, decent and faithful Christian man. His hobbies included sailing, roller blading and speed skating, the latter of which he did until his mid-80s.
