Anthony Sexton Odom (Opie), 72, of Raleigh, NC lost his fight with Covid-19 on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. Born in Thomaston, GA on May 10, 1948, he lived the majority of his life in Griffin and graduated from Griffin High in 1967. He was a loving son of Emma Jean Foster (2006), a devoted Daddy and Granddaddy to daughter Kim and Grandsons Tony and Ronnie. Opie was a selfless, quiet, strong and independent man until the very end. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Lhuillier and husband Todd; grandsons Tony Murray and Ronnie Murray; great grandsons Ayden O’Neal and Max Murray, good friend Danny NeSmith and former son-in-law Brent Lhuillier. He was preceded in death by his parents Emma Jean Hoyal Foster and Jerome R. “JR” Odom. As a family, we have decided to lay Opie (Daddy, Granddaddy) to rest next to his mother, Jean (MeaMaw) in Griffin at a later date. He would not want his family and friends to risk experiencing even a fraction of the pain this horrible virus caused him. We are asking that, in his honor, you wear a mask over your nose and mouth, social distance, wash your hands often and wait to gather…for my Daddy, please.
