Anthony "Tony" Wayne Smith

RALEIGH - Anthony Smith, 61, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, surrounded by his loved

ones. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, he was the son of the late William Herman Smith and

Phyllis Hicks Sears.

In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his daughter, Bridget Gaskins, whom

Tony loved dearly.

Tony was a loving husband, father, and brother. He was an avid fisherman and loved to go to

the lake on his boat with his family. Tony was well-loved by his many friends and family

members.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Kay Talbert Smith; stepfather Jimmy Sears of Oak Island;

stepbrother Michael Sears of Oak Island; Aunt Linda Wallace of Garner; Aunt Patricia Woodall

(Wallace) of Chapel Hill; Aunt Becky Franks (Paul) of Holly Springs; Uncle Frank Hicks (Linda) of

Raleigh; Uncle Wayne Hicks (Candy) of Raleigh; Aunt Vicky Hicks of Fuquay Varina; son Chad

Gaskins (Lindsey), (Oliver) of Fuquay Varina; and grandson Derrick Burch of Raleigh.

Our family respects the wishes of Tony and will not be holding services. Cremation has been

accorded. Although Tony was a private person, his loss is deeply felt.
