Army (Ret.) U.S. Sgt. Mitchell John Hallock

March 14, 1984 — September 18, 2020

GARNER – Sgt. Mitchell John Hallock, U.S. Army (Retired), 36, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 18, 2020. Mitch was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey on March 14, 1984. After relocating to North Carolina with his mother in the 90s, Mitch went on to enlist in the U.S. Army. He honorably served his country with three tours of duty, including two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Mitch loved music, video games, movies, and was a TV show fanatic. If a movie or show wasn’t on, he was probably watching WWE professional wrestling. As a reader, he was especially fond of the Harry Potter series and the Harry Potter audiobooks were his nightly lullaby. Mitch was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Eugene Fletcher; paternal grandmother, Jean Reidhaar; paternal grandfather, William Hallock. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family, which includes his mother, Debora Williams and husband, Paul Williams of Holly Springs; father, John Hallock and wife, Malinda Hallock of Trinity; sister, Rebecca Hallock; brother, Brian Hallock and wife, Ryleah Hallock; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Fletcher of New Jersey; special friends, Brandy Cowdrey, Michael Chaney and Kevin Guertler; along with a host of extended family and friends. Mitch’s special friend Brandy shares these thoughts, “Mitch was a friend to so many people. He was an amazing storyteller and just knew how to light up a room. He was a guy that made a lasting impression on you. He is the keeper of many, many secrets and was a safe haven for us when we needed a place to go. He never turned away anyone in need and was always there to help even if that meant just a phone call. He will be missed tremendously.” In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to: Holly Springs United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 68, Holly Springs, NC 27540; or Everittstown United Methodist Church, 415 County Road 513, Pittstown, NJ 08867. Arrangements are by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh.
