Artemis Sarayiotes of Raleigh, NC died Sunday, February 21,2021. She was born October 29, 1921 in Jamaica, NY, the youngest daughter of Kleandros and Sultana Andreadis. She was baptized on June 10, 1922, at the Jamaica Greek Orthodox Church with her Godparent being Kalliope Pantea. Artemis attended the McDowell School of Dressmaking & Design and became an accomplished seamstress. On May 11, 1947, she married the love of her life, James Constantine Sarayiotes, and resided in Brooklyn, NY until relocating to Raleigh, NC in 1976. Artemis was a devoted daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had numerous talents and loved her family, church, and friends dearly. In Brooklyn, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. Artemis spent many hours volunteering at the Three Hierachs Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn. Upon moving to Raleigh, NC, she continued her volunteer work at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Raleigh, and loved baking and shared her many creative gifts with those around her. She was a fixture at the Raleigh Greek Festival for many years. Artemis was the epitome of beauty, charm, and grace. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James, in 2009. Surviving are her daughter, Diane and husband Alfred Filler; son, Dinos Sarayiotes; daughter, Stephanie and husband, David Radford; and three grandchildren, Verilee and husband, Gamal Salem; Samantha Radford; and Alex Radford; and great-grandson, Gabriel Salem. A private Trisagion Service and funeral will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. The service can be accessed via the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church website on the live broadcast page beginning at 10:50 AM Saturday. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to The Ladies Philoptochos Society at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 5000 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC, 27612.
