April 6, 1931- April 23, 2011 Arthur Danielson, 80, of Raleigh died peacefully at home, April 23. Arthur was born April 6, 1931 to Iver M. Danielson and Elfreda Christofferson Danielson in Hartville, Wyoming. Orphaned as a teenager he worked his way through College, earning a Bachelors from the University of Northern Colorado and a Masters in International Affairs from the University of Wyoming. He served three years in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany during the Korean War period. He returned to the United States to teach high school in California prior to returning to Europe to earn a Diploma in Arts and a certificate to teach Italian from the Italian University in Perugia, Italy. He arrived in Raleigh in 1960 to work for the N.C. Health Department where he retired in 1987. During that time he earned a Masters Degree in Public Health (72). He received a The Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Governor Martin for his work at the Health Department. Arthur was also well known in N.C. as a dealer of period antiques and fine art for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by partner Leonida Fantini, his oldest sister, Joyce, and his brother Ivan. He is survived by his sister, Clarice of Everett, Washington and sister-in-law, Helen of Bellingham, Washington, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Burial rites will be held at a later date.
