Arthur Lafayette Pharr

Raleigh - On March 24, 2018, Arthur L. Pharr slipped away from us to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of 70 years.    He was born in Wilkesboro, NC in 1916.    He attended Lees McRae and Appalachian State and worked as a teacher of history and math and credit manager for Universal CIT before moving to Raleigh and opening Wrenn Pharr, Inc., selling men’s and boys’ clothing for 43 years.  He is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many loving family members.  His former employees, customers, family, and wonderful caregivers will miss him, especially his smile and gentle sense of humor.  He was a strong and kind man of God throughout his life, and loved the Lord and his family faithfully.   He was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church and the Koinonia class, where his memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 28, at 11 am. The family will receive friends after the service.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to First Presbyterian Church, 112 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh 27601 or to Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh.
