Dr. Arthur Paul Hansen, 73, of Garner, NC went to live with Jesus Christ, the worlds Lord and Savior, on December 7, 2013. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday Dec. 10, 2013 at Victory Church, 2825 South Wilmington St., Raleigh. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Hansen was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 25, 1940 to Arthur and Valborg Hansen. Following his strong love for science, he received his B.S and M.S. degrees from The University of Georgia and his Ph.D. in Food and Flavor Chemistry from Penn State University. After completing his graduate education, Dr. Hansen joined the Department of Food Science at North Carolina State University as a professor, where he was employed for 37 years. During his tenure at NCSU, Dr. Hansen became one of the worlds foremost researchers in aseptic processing and packaging of dairy products. He lectured globally and consulted with most major food companies on food nutrient and flavor interactions with packaging. With over 200 publications, articles and abstracts written from his research, his impact on the food industry is substantial. The greatest impact in his life, however, was not his professional endeavors. Dr. Hansens first love was Jesus Christ, and his service to his Lord was far reaching and of much greater importance. Starting a Full Gospel Student Fellowship shortly after arriving at NCSU, Dr. Hansen touched thousands of students’ lives over 37 years. There are countless men and women, many serving as full-time ministers and missionaries, whose lives of service to Jesus started in one of the student fellowship meetings at NCSU. For those searching for truth, the Fathers love and grace were seen in the life of Dr. Hansen. In addition to his ministry with students, Dr. Hansen was consistently active with Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship, speaking across the country at meetings and serving as President of the Raleigh chapter. His love for people, from all walks of life and those in all situations, never faded. It was a love, deposited by the Holy Spirit, that shone brightly in the world. He is truly one who fought the good fight, who finished the race, and who kept the faith. He is survived by his wife, Marilou; his daughters Lisa H. Powell and husband Mark, Sharon H. Pierce and husband Kevin, Julie H. Paul and husband Ralph, Kimberly H. Baker and husband Scott, and Mindy J. Hansen; his sisters Vivian South and husband Tom and Ruth Pedersen and husband Bjorn; and 13 grandchildren , Maribeth, Brandon and Hansen Powell; Connor, Sydney and Mia Pierce; Noah, Abbie and Caleb Paul; Grace and Lilah Baker ; Tucker and Mason Bryant and soon to be 14, grandchild. Dr. Hansen will be missed greatly by many, but his lifes impact will continue for generations
