Artur Fernando Dias

On Thursday, February 2, 2023, Artur Fernando Dias, beloved husband and father, passed away at sixty-seven years of age. The seventh of eight children, Fernando was born to Antonio and Ana Dias, in Montalegre, Portugal. Fernando served briefly in the Portuguese military before marrying his wife, Aurizia Gonçalves Da Fonte in 1976. Fernando and Aurizia moved to Mineola, New York immediately after getting married, where they were blessed with two daughters, Suzy and Nancy. They later moved to Virginia to raise their daughters, and then to North Carolina, following opportunities in Fernando’s residential construction business. Fernando loved hunting, fishing, and watching his favorite soccer team, S.L. Benfica, on television. Despite a serious stroke in 2009 which took his speech, Fernando lived a vibrant life with his wife and their dog, Noel, in Clayton, NC.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10 a.m., at St. Ann Catholic Parish, 4057 US 70 Business, Clayton, NC 27520. Visitation will be held at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27520, on Monday, February 6, 2023 from, 6-8 p.m.

Fernando is survived by his wife, Aurizia; daughters, Suzy and Nancy; and grandchildren Annabelle and Nick.
