B. Wayne Pittman, 79, passed away peacefully from end-stage Parkinson's Disease on February 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Johnston County, North Carolina, on April 11, 1945, son of the late Worth Braxton Pittman and Thelma Pender. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his sister, Linda P. AlsoBrooks.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie C. Pittman of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Jenna C. Pittman also of Raleigh, and Candace P. Nichols and husband, Bradd Nichols of Sims, NC; sister, Susan P. Boston and husband, Wayne Boston of Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Bobby AlsoBrooks of Clayton, NC; grandchildren Oliver, Sullivan, Caroline (Carolina), and Emmeline (Millie Grace) Nichols; nephew, John Boston; and niece Julie Boston.
Wayne honorably served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from active duty he continued to serve as a facility maintenance manager and contractor for the Army National Guard for almost 30 years.
In 1978, Wayne married the love of his life and best friend. Together he and Bonnie raised their two daughters, Jenna and Candace, whom Wayne loved with all his heart. Wayne was a loving husband, devoted father, brother, and grandfather. He will be remembered fondly as a man of faith, having great strength and conviction, a man who was kind, generous, and who cared deeply for his family. He was a devoted servant of the Lord who served in his church for many years as a deacon and head usher.
Some of his achievements include: The Meritorious Award by the State of NC, The Men's Fellowship President's Award from the Capital Church, and the NC National Guard Superior Service Award. However, Wayne would say that his greatest achievement was raising his two daughters to love and serve the Lord.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM at The Capital Church, 1308 US-70 W, Garner, NC 27529. At the conclusion of the service the family will receive friends for a brief period of visitation in the sanctuary before attending the family reception.
A private family committal service will be held on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 12830 US 70 Business HWY W, Clayton, NC 27520.
Flowers are welcome and may be sent to Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wayne's memory to Transitions Lifecare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
