Baldwin Ray Mitchell, Sr.

Husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather; known better to those closest to him as Mitchell, BR, Big Daddy. December 6, 2018, at the age of 96, Baldwin Ray Mitchell, Sr. passed peacefully away to go Home to be with his Lord Jesus, and his bride of 72 years, Becky. Heaven has gained a soul just in time for Christ’s birthday. Time to laugh, time to smile, time to see again. BR touched many lives during his time on Earth. He was the founder of Mitchell’s Hair Styling as well as Mitchell’s Academy. There have been thousands of individuals who either began their careers or grew their careers in North Carolina and across the country. BR was a WWII veteran, awarded the Purple Heart, and loved his country almost as much as he did his family. BR leaves behind his sons Baldwin Ray Mitchell, Jr and wife Beverly, Mark Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell and wife Carolyn, grandchildren Simone Walsh, Suzette Fulford, Baldwin Ray Mitchell III, Mark Mitchell, Jr, Nancy Grossman, Brandon Mitchell, Blair Mitchell, Jordan Mitchell, Vann Mitchell Barbe; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 11 at 2 pm at Ephesus Baptist Church, 6767 Hillsborough St, Raleigh with entombment to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum. The visitation will be at 12:30 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers please send a memorial donation to Ephesus Baptist Church, Raleigh.
