Barbara L. Thigpen

In Loving Memory Barbara Louise Cooper Thigpen, age 73, peacefully entered Heaven’s gates on December 2, 2014 surrounded by her family. Barbara was born March 13, 1941 in Milford, MA. At a young age, her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she spent her teenage years and met her beloved husband, Marvin Thigpen. Barbara and Marvin raised their three daughters in Garner NC and in their later years moved to Emerald Isle, NC. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend with a generous and loving heart that touched many lives. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life. Barbara especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild, playing golf, and traveling the country with Marvin and their dog Molly visiting family and friends in their motor home. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Eva Falcone Cooper and Randolph Ellis Cooper. She is survived by her loving husband Marvin Thigpen; daughters and son-in-laws Rene Thigpen Baum and Scott Baum, Sandra Thigpen Hunt and Kenneth Hunt, Lisa Thigpen Ellis and Glenn Ellis, all of Clayton NC; grandchildren Ashley Baum VanderVelde (Keith) of Willow Spring, NC, Brandon Marvin Thigpen of Wilmington, NC, Nicole Olivia Baum of Raleigh, NC, Jacob Kenneth Hunt, Grayson Morgan Ellis, and great grandchild Chloe Elizabeth VanderVelde. She is also survived by her sisters Betsy Ann Cooper of Anchorage, AL, Brenda Cooper Ketring of Placentia, CA, and Bonnie Jean Cooper of Scottsdale, AZ. Memorial Service followed by visitation will be held 3:00pm Saturday December 13, 2014 at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC.
