ANGIER – Barry Reid Gregory, 68, passed away Wednesday at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Born in Wake County, he was the son of the late Lemuel Carr Gregory and Ruth Summerlin Gregory. Barry graduated from North Carolina State University in 1976. He worked as a safety risk officer for USF&G and Bitco. Barry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and sport shooting. He enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors and classic cars, and he excelled at woodworking. The mountain house was a favorite place to visit and sit on the porch smoking his pipe. Barry cherished time spent with his beloved family, friends, and many fur babies. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13th at 2:00pm in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Burial will follow the service at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Fuquay-Varina. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45pm prior to the service at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Kathy Gregory; children, Anna Gregory (Brenden Read) of Richmond Hill, GA, Adam Reid Gregory (Angie) of Angier, Megan Gregory Sorrell (Glenn) of Angier, Katie DeGrace of Garner, Nick Chiotakis (Amber) of Morehead City; brother, Martin Gregory (Janice) of Angier; grandchildren, Daisy Gregory, Savannah Sorrell, Greta Gregory, Luke Sorrell, Elias Sorrell, Zadie Read, Selah Read, Abel Gregory, Oliver Sorrell, Dillon Stribik, and Madelyn Chiotakis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barry’s memory may be made to Rise and Shine Pit Bull Rescue at www.riseandshinepitbullrescue.org.
