Bennie Elbert Ivey

Raleigh - Bennie Elbert Ivey, 80, died Sunday. Born in Sampson County, he was the son of the late William Guthrie Ivey and Lellar Marie Carroll Ivey. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include sons, Craig Ivey and wife, Teresa of Raleigh and Gary Ivey and wife, Cheryl of Clayton; sister, Margaret Fann; grandchildren, Elizabeth Henderson and husband, John, William Ivey, Thomas Ivey and wife, Leslie; as well as one great-grandchild, Lainey Henderson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shelia Godwin Ivey; sisters, Othie Parker and Lilma Williams; brothers, Odell, Isaac and Willis Ivey. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 3000 E. Garner Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.
