Bertha Eva Jackson Earp, also known as BEE, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died on October 27, 2016, a few days after suffering a stroke. Bertha was raised in the Jackson family homeplace on Holly Springs Road, and then lived with her cousin in Raleigh to begin her work career. She was employed at FCX, Aetna Insurance Company, and her final job with the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts in the Wake County Courthouse until her retirement. Bee loved fishing and gardening, especially growing flowers, which she learned from her Mother, and she always had vegetables and flowers growing in her yard. While working for the State of North Carolina and living in Raleigh, Bee also became well‑known for all the delicious cakes, pies, and candies she prepared to share with her many friends, her Deblyn Park neighbors, and co-workers in the courthouse. Bee also delivered food, gloves, socks and various items on a weekly basis and gave them to anyone in need in the downtown area. Throughout her life, she was always giving and sharing everything she had with her family, friends, and anyone she thought needed a helping hand. She truly had a Heart of Gold. Bee will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to be in her life. Surviving is her sister, Mary Catharine Jackson Babb. Bee is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she was devoted to her entire life. She was predeceased by her sister, Rachel Jackson Witgenstein, and her brothers, George Benton Jackson, Eldridge Jackson, Elvis Jackson, and Harvey Jackson. Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. Visitation will be Sunday, October 30th, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service on Monday, October 31st, 11:00 a.m., Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
