Bessie Workman Emory

RALEIGH – Bessie Workman Emory, 100, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022. Bessie was born on July 24, 1921 the daughter of the late Albert Simpson and Annie Gilmore Workman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Emory, Sr., who passed away in 1981. Bessie was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie May Workman; and brothers, Albert Clyde Workman and Leroy Workman. She is survived by her sons, Thomas C. Emory, Jr. and wife, Janet, Richard Emory and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Melissa Emory, Thomas “Tommy” Emory, III, Kelly Davis and husband, Ron, Ryan Emory and wife, Kari; great grandchildren, Caroline, Cora, Cameron, Caleb, Celia, Sarah, Kimberly, Rachel, Grayson, Eva; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Salvation Army, 902 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in Bessie’s memory to the Salvation Army: 902 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27604.
