Bette Ruth Lassiter Carter

January 29, 1970 — February 24, 2017

Amazing woman of God, wonderful wife and mother, sister in Christ, teacher, and humanitarian. Bette Ruth Lassiter Carter, age 47, went to her heavenly home on her mother’s birthday, February 24, 2017. She was reunited with her parents and other family and friends. Most of all, she has gone on to be with her Lord. We are confident that upon entering the Lord’s presence, Bette heard the words of Matthew 25:23, “His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Lord’s happiness!’” Bette leaves behind an incredible legacy. She gave of herself in innumerable ways. She came equipped with words of wisdom for all she met. She lived a life of salt and light. She cherished her mission trips to Honduras. Her career was spent with exceptional children; but all students felt drawn to her. She is love and she is loved. Bette had a great passion for her two girls and was so proud of them. She loved the ocean, fishing, food, friends, and laughter. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bette Lassiter, and her brothers, John Lassiter and Eddie Lassiter. To cherish and contemplate her memory and influence, she is survived by the love of her life, husband, Tim Carter, daughters Kaylie and Gracie, brothers Billy Lassiter, Jr. (wife Bonnie), Tim Lassiter (wife Debbie), Jeff Lassiter (wife Kenni), sister-in-law Tricia Lassiter, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Raleigh. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Longview Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Historic Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Longview Baptist Church – Mission Fund, 2308 New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27604.
