Bettie Jane Cox

Ms. Bettie Powell Cox, age 93, of Raleigh, NC died on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in UNC Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC. She was born on October 15, 1930, the only child to the late Richard Allen Powell and Donnie Britt Powell.

She is survived by her son, Richard Allen Cox of Willow Spring, NC.

Bettie was a faithful and active charter member of Westover United Methodist Church, serving in many different ways as long as her health allowed.

After college, Bettie began her 50-year career in the insurance industry with State Capital Life Insurance Company and retired from working with Protective Life. She was a devoted mother and daughter. She made sure that her son was cared for and later that her mother who lived in her home was cared for as well. Best known by others for her Christmas fudge and coconut meringue pies.

Her graveside service will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street Raleigh, NC 27603.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to, Westover United Methodist Church, 300 Powell Drive Raleigh, NC 27606.
