Bettie Sauls Massengill

RALEIGH – Bettie Lou Sauls Massengill, 83, passed away at her home Tuesday. She was born in Johnston County to the late William E. and Lillie May Strickland Sauls. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Massengill worked at traffic engineering with the NC Department of Transportation. Funeral services will be 12:00 pm Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 11:00-12:00 prior to the service. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, E.C. (John) Massengill; daughter, Phyllis M. Britt and husband, Jackie of Garner; sisters, Faye Yount and Mary Lois Thompson, both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Justin “JB” Britt and wife, Christy and Jordan Nicole Britt, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Earl Sauls. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 5029 Old Stage Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of the caregivers that lovingly provided care for Mrs. Massengill over the last five years and to Transitions Hospice.
