Betty Adkinson

February 2, 1944 — July 21, 2020

Garner - Betty Anne Davis Adkinson passed away July 21, 2020, at Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh, NC, with complications from dementia. Betty was born February 2, 1944, in Chesnee, South Carolina, to the late Charles Leo Davis and Frances Myrtle Anders Davis. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on August 10th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Betty was raised by her grandparents John and Maggie Anders in Marshall, North Carolina. She attended Madison High School and graduated in 1961. Betty worked as an assistant in elementary school and a clerk in the courthouse in Marshall. In the mid-1980’s Betty moved to Michigan where she worked five years for Ford Motor Company. It was there that she met Duane Adkinson, and in 1992, Betty and Duane married and moved to Garner, NC. In addition to her grandparents and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son Scotty Ponder, husband of 22 years Duane Adkinson, brothers Charles Davis and George “Dub” Davis. She is survived by daughters Crystal Ponder Rogers (“Jot”), Cynthia Ponder and Cheri Ponder and siblings Martha Jean Davis Greenway and Jimmy Davis. Also surviving step-children Janice “Laney” Adkinson Williams, Andy Adkinson and Rebecca “Becky” Adkinson Evans, and 4 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bettys honor to: Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. It is requested that all in attendance wear face coverings, use hand sanitizer, and practice common social distancing.
