Betty Estelle Baker Peel

GARNER- Betty Estelle Baker Peel, 94, passed away on Friday. Born in Harnett County, Mrs. Peel was the daughter of the late Columbus C. Baker and Mary Catherine Patterson. She graduated from The Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh. Upon receiving her teaching degree, she taught at The Governor Morehead School and Wake County Schools for many years. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 25th at First Presbyterian Church of Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Peel is survived by her daughters, Fran Thrower (Tom) of Albemarle and Jane Meekhof (Michael) of Garner; grandchildren, Amanda Troutman (Robert), Lauren Calfas (Duke), Ryan Thrower (Makayla), Joey Parrish (Brandy) and Kacie Meekhof, as well as five great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Peel; sisters, Foy Baker, Mildred Glosson, Inez Talley and Ruth Jenkins.
