Betty Gail Allen

Betty Gail Allen, known to friends as Bee Gee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 12, 2021. She was born on May 7, 1952, in Hampton Roads, Virginia and lived in Germany as a child when her father served in the US Air Force. When her father retired from the Air Force her family returned to Garner, North Carolina, where Bee Gee graduated from Garner High School. Bee Gee held a Bachelor’s from University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Masters of Fine Arts from East Carolina University. A longtime resident of historic Oakwood in Raleigh, Bee Gee was a treasured and much-loved member of the community. Bee Gee was a talented artist, expressing herself through pottery and textiles. She created custom window treatments in her Garner business, BG’s Custom Windows. An animal lover all of her life, she was devoted to her dogs, especially her beloved Frank. Bee Gee was a member of the Garner United Methodist Church. Those who knew her will miss her unfiltered sense of humor and unique perspective on life. She was an original. Ed Crow Allen and Betty Hollembeak Allen of Garner, NC, Bee Gee’s parents, preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Chris Allen of Cary, NC. A celebration of life graveside service will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Montlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be sent to Transitions LifeCare, Philanthropy Dept. | 250 Hospice Circle | Raleigh, NC 27607 to honor the compassionate team of professionals and volunteers who provided care and comfort for Bee Gee and her family. transitionslifecare.org/donate
