Garner- Betty Hancock Rohrbaugh, 94, passed to eternal rest with her Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, May 14, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. Visitation for Betty is Sunday, May 22 from 5-7 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Betty’s funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 23 at 1 pm at St. Ann Catholic Church, Clayton NC; burial will follow at Montlawn Cemetery in Raleigh. Betty was born in Columbus, GA to Jesse Nathaniel Hancock and Rachel Bertha Lumpkin. Betty married the love of her life, Frederick Donald (Don) Rohrbaugh, April 29, 1950. Together they shared a beautiful life with their three children – Richard (Susie) Rohrbaugh, Cathy (Dean) Penny and Mary Lib (Jerry) Perry. Betty enjoyed spending time with and loving her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by “Mayor” Don and a (stillborn) son, Frederick Hugh Rohrbaugh. Betty also worked as the Registrar at both Pine Forest High School, in Fayetteville, NC and in the Garner Senior High School Guidance Office. While she enjoyed being Garner’s First Lady during Don’s tenure as Mayor, they both enjoyed traveling after retiring. Betty was an excellent cook and often shared her talent with others. Betty attended St. Ann Catholic Church in Clayton, being an honorary member of the choir. Previously, Betty attended St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Catholic Church in Garner, NC. Betty’s family is most appreciative of the loving care provided to her by Laura, Melanie, Cathy H, Amie, Betty, and Chi Chi. Betty’s funeral will be Livestreamed through St. Ann’s website, www.st-annschurch.org. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Ann Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Ann Food Pantry, c/o St. Ann Catholic Church, 4057 US Hwy 70 Bus W, Clayton, NC 27520.
