Betty Jane Harper

Betty Jane (Lum) Harper, 96, went to her heavenly home on April 5, 2023. She was born March 4, 1927 in Hagerstown Maryland and was the daughter of the late Hoye A. and Louise J. Lum.

Betty loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was active in her church in Grace United Methodist, Hagerstown MD, and taught Children’s Sunday School there for over 25 years. She retired after 30 years of service from Brethren Mutual Insurance Company and moved to North Carolina in 1998 to be close to her family. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was active in the WMU and Adult Sunday School.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Savage (J.P.); grandchildren, Leslie Moon (Claude), Kerrie Savage, Daniel Savage (Heather), great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Hunter, Christin Savage, Lauren, Hailey, Hannah, Emiley Moon and her sister Patsy Spickler of Hagerstown. Betty is predeceased by her Brothers; Wade and Harald Lum.

Betty will be remembered at a graveside service on Monday, Apr 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay Varina, NC.
