Betty Jean Bryan

GARNER- Betty Jean Bryan, 78, passed away February 10th with her nephew, David, at her side. A native of Wake County, she was the last surviving child of Paul Lee Bryan, Sr. and Bettie Buffaloe Bryan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Catherine Bryan, Lottie Bryan, Mary Elizabeth Bryan, Anne Bryan, Millie Bagwell and brothers, Paul Lee Bryan, Jr., Robert A. Bryan, W. Wade Bryan, and James H. Bryan, ALL LOVED. She was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, always doing all she could to help her family. A 1957 graduate of East Carolina, she taught school for thirty years, mostly in Wake County, ending her career at East Garner and North Garner Junior High Schools. She was a lifelong, faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. .She is survived by 17 nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Ann Goodwin. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family wishes to thank the staff at Clare Bridge of Cary for their superb care and for all the smiles they brought to her life during the last two years. They were indeed the family she loved also.
